Gallifrey 2012

Autographs

Many attendees come to the convention seeking a souvenir of their visit with their favorite guests, which include autographs. As a service to our membership, Gallifrey One provides many autographing opportunities with our guests throughout the weekend. However, due to the realities of the size of the convention and the amount of time our guests are contracted for, we cannot guarantee you will leave the convention with every autograph you want to have. Nevertheless, we hope the following information will aid you in choosing the best approach to getting your much-needed autographs over the course of the weekend.

For 2012 and going forward, we have abandoned the "flyaway autographs" program and other policies we instituted during our days of smaller attendance, and instead have taken a more simplified approach to the autographs system. Each of our guests can be classified into one of three categories, below; the policy for collecting autographs for each is noted for the guests in that category. (These lists will be posted at the Autographs Hall as well as in the program book.)

Premium Autographs

For our most popular guests listed below who aren't sponsored by outside parties, due to the size of our event and the number of people wanting autographs, we will be restricting autographs to one (1) autograph provided free of charge per guest per weekend. The only exception to this during our autograph sessions is that we will permit one (1) additional autograph of an item purchased from the guest at the same time as the free autograph.

There will be one autograph session per guest each of the three days of the convention, so you can pick which session you would like to participate in (all guests at a session on one day will be at the same session on another day). You can only attend one of the three sessions. This one-autograph-per-convention policy will be enforced by a new autograph card that will be given to you with your registration badge. (See Autograph Card section below.) We are asking that, due to the number of people at the convention seeking autographs, attendees limit the interaction time they spend with the guest so as not to hold up the line; our autographs attendants will aid in helping speed up the line if it becomes stalled.

Additionally, guests in this category MAY choose to hold an additional autograph session at another time, and sign only items they wish to sell (such as photographs). This will provide an opportunity to collect additional autographs from these guests at a cost they themselves will determine at the time. This will be above and beyond our scheduled sessions.

Participants: Paul McGann, Louise Jameson, Toby Haynes, Beth Chalmers, Lisa Greenwood, Richard Senior, Barnaby Edwards, Nicholas Briggs, Philip Segal, Jane Espenson, Doris Egan, John Shiban.

Sponsored Autographs

Sponsored guests are brought to the convention in cooperation with another entity. Gallifrey One provides transportation and hotel charges, but each sponsored guest will be afforded their appearance fees through the sales of autographs, photos and other memorabilia. Therefore, for these guests, no free autograph is provided. Each guest will set their own fee (or it is set by the sponsor) and they will be provided space to sign throughout the weekend, either in the Dealers Room or in the hallway/foyer. The sponsor will be noting autograph times at their table.

Participants: Camille Coduri, William Russell, Maureen O'Brien, Caitlin Blackwood, Richard Franklin, Simon Fisher-Becker (all via Tenth Planet's table in the Dealers Room); Daphne Ashbrook, Yee Jee Tso, Mark Sheppard, Waris Hussein, W. Morgan Sheppard, Tony Curran, Chase Masterson, Linda Thorson, Jay Acovone, Vernon Wells (at their own tables in the foyer); Michael Troughton (at Hirst Books' table in the foyer); Virginia Hey (at her Dealers Room table).

Standard Autographs

All other guests not covered by the premium or sponsored categories will be provided one or more autograph sessions of their choice in the autographs hall and will sign at their leisure, or in some cases will be signing in the Dealers Room or at a hallway/foyer table. We will note times and locations for each guest's autograph session(s) in the program book. Note: at this time we expect there will be at least one signing event in the Dealers Room at the IDW Comics table for the guests affiliated with IDW.

Autograph Card

As you get your badge at registration, you will also be provided an autograph card (for guests in the premium category). It's a simple punchcard to be placed behind your badge for the weekend. Your autograph card will have your real name - or badge name, if you have selected a different name for it - printed on the card; the name must match the name on your badge to be usable, so trading autograph cards is not permitted. Your card will be punched when you reach the guest; if you are in line for an autograph and determine it will take too much time, you can simply return at a later time or another day's session, and your opportunity for an autograph will not be lost.

Lost autograph cards will not be replaced, so please make certain you keep yours safe at all times.

Additional Rules

In order to provide our attendees with a positive experience while waiting for an autograph from a premium autographs guest, we will not permit saving places for friends in line or allow jumping ahead in line to join a friend/relative.

At the discretion of the autographs coordinator, attendees in the front of the line who are unable to receive an autograph (due to time constraints, early departure of guests, etc.) may receive a "golden ticket". This ticket will allow early entry into the next available autograph session to guarantee an autograph from the guests included. Anyone receiving an early entry token is asked to arrive at the next autograph session 5-10 minutes prior to its start; early entry tokens will not be accepted once the session begins.

Due to time constraints and our wish to allow everyone possible a chance for an autograph, we will not be able to permit members to ask for photos with the guests during the premium autograph sessions. Our guests may choose to allow the taking of personal photos at other times, and attendees are welcome to have their photo taken during our professionally-run photo sessions in the Photo Studio throughout the weekend.

Gallifrey One reserves the right to alter these policies or alter the category of each guest at any time.

We appreciate your understanding and hope that this will make the autographs policy at Gallifrey 2012 enjoyable for everyone.
